As part of our ongoing commitment to the future workforce, we actively partner with Delta High School in Pasco, Wash., to support and enhance their education programs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our Delta partnership, now entering its eighth year, includes targeted corporate financial support through scholarships and many employee volunteer hours.
The impact of these student scholarships this year was immediate. Two of the scholarship recipients, Adrianna McKinney and Connor Gill, recently wrote letters to AREVA CEO Gary Mignogna thanking him and describing the impact the scholarships had in their lives.
AREVA employees take our corporate citizenship to heart and regularly volunteer with a variety of Delta school programs and special activities, including:
- Judging senior capstone projects and the school’s history fair
- Conducting mock interviews for students as they prepare for internships and college entrance exams
- Reviewing and providing resume assistance to students
AREVA also hosts freshmen classes for tours at our Richland nuclear fuel manufacturing facility for Nuke Tech Day and provide Career Guest Speakers to share professional and higher education experiences as students investigate potential career paths and interests.
As the students are preparing for internships and interviews, they can check the AREVA-funded Career Closet at the school for quality, professional clothing to look their best.
