Today ATMEA™, a joint-venture between AREVA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, announced the signature of an agreement with the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), for the review of the safety options of the ATMEA1™, a mid-sized Generation III+ pressurized water reactor.

Noting this important step, Stefan vom Scheidt, President and CEO of ATMEA™ declared that “since the reactor’s basic design has been successfully completed, ATMEA™ is now ready to answer formal requests for proposal from its customers.”
